Apparently Trochowski plays for Mueller, whis is, in my opinion, a huge drop in quality. Most Germans would have liked to see Kroos or perhaps Cacau as replacement and believe Trochowski shouldn't even have made Germany's WC squad.
On the other hand, most Germans also questioned coach Loew for sticking with Klose and he proved them all wrong, so perhaps he does the right thing again.

i would also like Kroos, but he is the more offensive minded player than Trochowski (although he is also not know for being a great defender)...still this would seem to me like a safety first approach. overall i think that germany can overcome müller s suspension

He is important but he can be replaced. Germany plays as a team... not based on individuals and that's why they are successful. Let's not forget that many of their cornerstones in this WC are first timers (including Muller, I believe). I don't think he was such a big deal until the last game against Argentina... and yes, I watched all their games in this WC.

Well, after the game and seeing that Trochowski was a non-factor of course one wonders if things might have been different with Mueller...

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I do not believe his presence will change the outcome of the game. Spain plays a very suffocating and controlled game that leaves little or no room for the other team to manoeuvre.

Ozil, Swchine and Khedira were not able to do much today themselves.

True, probably it wouldn't have changed much. But then there is always the possibility that Mueller might have helped to play one of the counter-attack opportunities better, and if Germany at one point takes the lead (even undeservedly) the whole game might have changed.

All in all, the game was 90% tactics, and we've all seen Muller fit perfectly into the team's strategy in this World Cup. Trochowski played well, but I think Muller could have done better.

I'm surprised Loew substituted Boateng so early in the game after playing rather well... That didn't helped much, Kroos couldn't put it in from a position where most other Germans would have...
